Adobe MAX – The Creativity Conference | Review on demand


Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of viewing the 2021 Adobe Max Program via the comfort of my own home. 

The purpose of the program was to showcase the new programs and software that Adobe has in the works that will be available to users between now and the following year. 

They showed a variety of different programs at the during the event, but there were two programs that really caught my attention. 

The first one was Adobe's first leap into 3D software. Entitled "Substance 3D", this group of programs resolved around 3D software.

These programs were shown to offer users the ability to design, model, stage and paint with a variety of different tools to accomplish one's vision. 


The second program that really had me amazed was entitled "Project Artful Frames". The program really appealed to the part of me who wants to do animation.

The program took video recordings and then, similar to a filter, took pre-existing art pieces and layered them over them. Essentially creating animation with the style of the art piece chosen. 

Such as taking Vincent Van Gough's "Cafe Terrace at Night" mad in oil paint and merging it with a video of people walking in a modern city street: 



Or taking a water color painting and merging with footage of people walking in a park: 



It even work with images of rough sketches: 



And even images such as this one which was created using a realistic image of space:  


The program is not just limited to specifically paintings and It's truly some fantastic looking software that I can't wait to get my hands on and experiment with. 

Overall, what I saw of the presentation was fantastic and I look forward to hopefully using these great looking programs.

The Witness and Alberto Mieglo

 One of my favorite shows streaming on Netflix right now is called "Love Death and Robots"  The show, which was originally meant to be a remake of the 1981 anthology film "Heavy Metal", is an adult anthology show consisting of several animated shorts spread across each season. Each short ranges in style and tone but the overall theme of all of the shorts goes back to the title.  I remember watching the first season of the show back when it premiered in 2019. While I loved majority of the shorts, one of them that really stood out to me, visually at least, was the third short of season one: "The Witness".  "The Witness" is a thriller following a woman who witnesses a murder and is spotted by the killer. She is then pursued through the streets of Tokyo as she attempts to escape the killer.  Once separates this short from the others in that season is the distinctive style. Kevin Temmer

For awhile now I've had the absolute pleasure of subscribing to the wonderful Kevin Temmer on Youtube. I really admire what he does and love the content he puts out. Tremmer is a professional animator as well as a singer/songwriter. On his Youtube channel he uploads all sorts of great stuff from songs that he's written to his own CG animated content. What makes his content particularly unique to me is how he uses both his talents for animating and songwriting to combine them into great musical videos with a distinct style.  The songs themselves are all comedic in tone and can range from being about depression, exhaustion or breaking down the basic plot structure of an animated film.
