Migrane Poster

Image
Here is the poster I made for the " Data Visualization/Infographic Poster" project for Intro To Computer Graphics that I based around Migraines. Particularly because they've happened to me quite a number of times.   I felt the use of magenta and red would be a good color scheme for the whole poster. I also wanted the image that I had for the brain to have a fun design that takes a look inside the mind of someone who has a migraine in a comedic and cartoony way.

Sprite Fright

Image
Today I saw a short film I've been wanting to check out for awhile but just haven't had the time called "Sprite Fright".  "Sprite Fright" is a 80's inspired horror/comedy that follows Ellie, a nature loving teen, and her assigned study group of stuck together for a school project and wander into the woods to study nature. When the rest of the group messes with the surroundings nature strikes back in the form of small, mischievous, smurf-esque mushroom men who want revenge for tampering with mother nature.  The short isn't anything overly complicated, but it's a fun, darkly comedic watch with PG-13 level gore that subverted my expectations. Which is something you don't really see in a lot of animated projects, especially when it comes to animated horror. I think what really stood out to me the animation style. The film was animated in Blender, which I can't believe how high the quality of that program can deliver, and released via Blende

Event #5

Last week I had the pleasure of attend one of the panels for the Sabria Cole Film Festival hosted by my instructor Prof. Ogechi Chieke.  Before the panel started, there were a variety of videos playing. Some of the highlights included a documentary about African American influence in music and some music videos offering commentary on the black experience in relation to the police.  The panel itself had several people on it, but the one who caught my attention from the announcement of the panel was writer Jesse Andrews.  Andrews caught my attention since he currently works as a screenwriter for Pixar and was just a writer on their most recent film "Luca". For me, I think what stood out to me most out of what Andrew said regarding Pixar was how different it was to write for them in comparison to another studio since he's mostly worked in the world of live action. To my memory, I  recall him saying that Pixar's process when it came to screenwriting, while not negative

Event #4

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a zoom presentation relating for Pixar. The presentation was mainly a discussion with an artist and illustrator who works at the company. That artist was Paul Abadilla.  Paul is a artist at the studio who works as a set artist for many of Pixar's films. He has worked with the studio since 2012 on "Brave" to one of their most recent works with their movie "Soul".  Abadilla talked about how he got started and what some of his inspirations were, but mostly he talked about the process of making the set design for "Soul". As someone who saw the movie and loved it, it was great to listen to the process in creating an important part of it. I found the animation and design of both the soul world and the real world to be fantastic and a perfect blend of abstract and realism.  To hear him talk about the approach they had to both worlds and to make each of them unique in their own way I found it to be very interesti

Migraines

Migraines   Merriam Webster defines a migraine as “a condition marked by recurring moderate to severe headache with throbbing pain that usually lasts from four hours to three days”. The type of people who can be affected by migraines include men, women, and children. According to the Migraine Research Foundation it affects 39 million men, women and children in the U.S. and 1 billion worldwide. For men, it’s that estimated 9% of men are regular sufferers according to Harvard Health Publishing. Their studies also looked at a connection between migraines in men and the risk of cardiovascular disease. An examination of 20,084 men from age 40 to 84 who participated in a health studied and completed detailed medical questionnaires each year found that that having migraines boosts the risk of heart attacks by 42%. For women, it is reported by the Offices on Women’s Health that Migraines are most common in women between the

Event #3- Adobe Max 2021

Image
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of viewing the 2021 Adobe Max Program via the comfort of my own home.  The purpose of the program was to showcase the new programs and software that Adobe has in the works that will be available to users between now and the following year.  They showed a variety of different programs at the during the event, but there were two programs that really caught my attention.  The first one was Adobe's first leap into 3D software. Entitled "Substance 3D", this group of programs resolved around 3D software.   These programs were shown to offer users the ability to design, model, stage and paint with a variety of different tools to accomplish one's vision.  The second program that really had me amazed was entitled "Project Artful Frames". The program really appealed to the part of me who wants to do animation.  The program took video recordings and then, similar to a filter, took pre-existing art pieces and layered them over them.
