Sabira Cole Film Festival: Winner's Circle Screenings Night 1 - Crowdcast

Last week I had the pleasure of attend one of the panels for the Sabria Cole Film Festival hosted by my instructor Prof. Ogechi Chieke.

Before the panel started, there were a variety of videos playing. Some of the highlights included a documentary about African American influence in music and some music videos offering commentary on the black experience in relation to the police.

The panel itself had several people on it, but the one who caught my attention from the announcement of the panel was writer Jesse Andrews.

Andrews caught my attention since he currently works as a screenwriter for Pixar and was just a writer on their most recent film "Luca". For me, I think what stood out to me most out of what Andrew said regarding Pixar was how different it was to write for them in comparison to another studio since he's mostly worked in the world of live action. To my memory, I  recall him saying that Pixar's process when it came to screenwriting, while not negative to him, is more critical in comparison to a live action film since they need to nail their stories before they start storyboarding and animating the feature.

For me, I figured that was what their approach was since animation is a very different process than live action, but it was still interesting to hear his point of view on the subject and I look forward to what else he has in store while he is at the studio.
